No. Roughly half of each cohort writes code for a living. Every exercise ships in both a design file and plain CSS, so you can work in whichever one you're fluent in. Engineers usually find module five the most immediately useful; designers usually say module three changed how they work.

The vocabulary in week one will be familiar. Weeks three and five usually aren't — measure-derived leading and the variable-font internals are where experienced designers say they picked things up. If you can already defend your type scale in a sentence and cut a font payload in half, skip the course and save your money.

Every exercise comes with a supplied brief and starter files. Bringing your own product is better — the feedback is more useful — but it's genuinely optional.
